What a difference a week makes!

So my last blog wasn’t much of an update on our house because, well, I didn’t think I could do much with clean up efforts, a snow storm, and painting the house!  But since the last blog, wow, what a difference!  The house has completely transformed!

So our main focus over the past week has been getting the “right side” of the house done.  This meant the bedrooms and closet so we could start to move in.  There was still a ton to do before the house could be move in ready but sure enough, it got done!

There were lots of helping hands this week, especially since the boys were out of school.  There was a lot of painting to be done, and TONS of shiplap to be hung!  The painting is pretty basic, but there’s a lot of detail in the trim inside the house so it was very time consuming.  The boys both got on board with the painting and helped wrap it all up for us through the week.

The shiplap was a little more time consuming.  The walls are certainly not flat in our master bedroom, which is where the shiplap went, and they aren’t even from top to bottom either.  Lots of pushing, bending, and begging for some of the boards to get in, but eventually we managed to get them all in and hung.  It was a learning experience for sure and we think we have become shiplap pros!

Almost Done!
Finishing touches!
And….done!

We even managed to start moving into the library with the painting!  Nancy and Tami took over for us in there (so lucky to have great family helping out!) and really made a lot of progress.  Now we just have a little shiplap to be hung and bookshelves to be installed, which are in the process of being made for us this week.

Even though things were coming along quickly, we still had things that absolutely had to get done before we could move in.  And such time consuming things!  We had to get appliances ordered for the kitchen, because cabinets will be coming soon.  We managed to get that almost done.  Only things left to find are the range hood and the wine cooler.  The wine cooler being of utmost importance of course!  We ended up finding some amazing deals on KitchenAid appliances and can’t wait to get them in the house to see how they look.  We also managed to get new mattresses for all of us, and they even got delivered in time to get them set up (thanks Sleep King!!)!

Mattresses made it!

At the end of the week, it ended up being hugely successful and productive!  We got the great new mattresses and ended up with our beds making it to the house, and all of our clothes.  We are officially in Summerville every night and even off the air mattress.  What a difference!  We even had time today to go out and prep the pod for delivery and move all of the event stuff in to the newly converted trailer for Smooth Sailing Event Coordinating!

It really is amazing how much we have been able to get done.  Our next step is the living room and kitchen.  Some more shiplap to be hung, cabinets to be installed, and the final push on the move.  It’s amazing how quickly it’s all coming together.  We have made such progress in 16 days…with a snow storm and all!  Fingers crossed it all keeps moving along as smoothly and we can wrap up the construction and move on along to our next adventure!
